Born to be optimistic

Neuroscientist Tali Sharot asserts that we are hard-wired to be optimistic; we think the future will turn out to be better than the facts may realistically suggest. In this TED talk she talks about her work with a rare simplicity, insight and humor.

This fascinating talk made me finally understand why I hang on to my real estate investments, why I prefer Thursday to Sunday (weekend in Dubai is Friday-Saturday) and why I still think I will IPO the next Facebook.

Enjoy the talk and have a good weekend.

So the key is to be optimistic but cautious and calculating? Somehow I’m sensing there’s a paradox in the her conclusion… Nevertheless very interesting indeed.
