For the last week or so I have been at altitudes of 7,000 feet plus, on the spectacular Colorado plateau. The weather has been heavenly, deep blue sunny skies and cool breezes.
Like most Indian men I have not bothered with sun protection creams. I had been warned of UV rays; dangerous at these altitudes and more so in recent years, thanks to depletion of the Ozone layer.
The science was iffy, as my cursory net research revealed, and besides I was in the USA. Surely there couldn’t be a problem here, global warming is something in the future, and in the poor countries of Asia.
A week later I am burnt so bad I cannot step out in the sun. Fortunately the Olympics are on and a hotel room is not a bad place to recover.
I am in Santa Fe, in the state that Georgia O’Keeffe made famous. Blog posts have been infrequent, what with the quality of mobile broadband here. But all should be back to normal by the 1st, when I return to LA.
